Game company Microsoft may be getting an upgraded Xbox controller in the future after Xbox head Phil Spencer talked about their rival’s new DualSense controller design and features.
In a recent episode on A little funny gamescast, Spencer spoke of that Xbox won’t release any other accessories like a VR headset, but he did suggest that their controllers could get an upgrade.
“When I think about our hardware roadmap, and I really like the evolution of Liz Hamren’s team and the work they’ve done,” he said.
“We’re definitely thinking about different types of devices that can bring more games to more places. There is probably some work to be done on the controller. I think Sony did a good job with their controller and we’re looking at that a bit and [think] there are things we need to do.
“But [we’re] probably not in the more bespoke accessories spot right now,” he added. “We’re just looking at what’s happening in Windows and other places and see if there’s a unique opportunity for us. At the moment I don’t think there is anything that is clear to me.”
Spencer praised the uniqueness of the Dualsense controller and thinks Xbox might add those features to their own controllers as well. He didn’t specifically say they would add haptic feedback and such, but it was kind of a hint from him.
The Xbox head clarified that while he loves how the game industry is pioneering in different areas, they just don’t like the VR headset.
