Fans of the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animated series are anxiously awaiting the release of the Netflix series Masters of the Universe: Revelation. The sequel series was developed by Kevin Smith (Clerks) and will continue the story from the original.

Once again, we will return to Eternia and the battle for Castle Greyskull to see if good will prevail over the evil Skeletor and the other villains of Snake Mountain. This time Teela, Captain of the Royal Guard, tries to solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power.

The series will serve as the sequel to the original, and there is a four-issue comic that is a prequel to the Netflix series. The first issue of the Masters of the Universe Revelation comic was released on July 7.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation release date

Netflix will release the first part of season one of Masters of the Universe: Revelation on July 23 at 12:01 a.m. PT, and 3 a.m. ET. You can hit the “remind me” button on Netflix to be sure this is added to your queue.

Alongside the series release, Revelations: The Masters of the Universe Revelation Aftershow will also premiere on Netflix. This will feature Kevin Smith, Rob David and Tiffany Smith serving as hosts.

The official teaser below shows all the familiar characters, and the song accompanying the trailer couldn’t be more fitting. Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding out for a Hero” is an amazing ’80s song for a series that might air in 2021, but its roots are all ’80s.

The official trailer for Part 1 is visually stunning, and the score by Bear McCreary is amazing.

The cast is an amazing compilation of actors, including Chris Wood, Mark Hamill, Sara Michelle Gellar, Liam Cunningham, Lena Headey, Diedrich Bader, Alicia Silverstone, Stephen Root, Susan Eisenberg, Henry Rollins, Justin Long and Kevin Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn Smith.

The war for Eternia culminates in “Masters of the Universe: Revelation,” an innovative and action-packed animated series that picks up where the iconic characters left off decades ago. After a cataclysmic battle between He-Man and Skeletor, Eternia is fractured and the Guardians of Grayskull are scattered. And after decades of secrets tore them apart, it’s up to Teela to reunite the broken band of heroes, and solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to restore Eternia and prevent the end of the universe.
