Netflix Original: Will there be an Outer Banks book? – Netflix News

Recent articles

It’s no secret that since Outer Banks premiered in April 2020, it’s become one of the most popular teen dramas on not only Netflix but all of television.

The series offers an edge-of-your-seat escape into the high stakes world of John B (Chase Stokes) and his friends as they embark on an adventure of a lifetime to track down a legendary treasure that’s connected to John B’s missing father, all while battling a local turf war with the rich kids.

We’re counting down the seconds until Outer Banks season 2 premieres this summer and continues the unbelievable journey that’s full of action, romance, mystery and, of course, treasure.

Even though most OBX diehards are probably on the hunt for season 2 spoilers (hey, maybe you’re looking for some season 3 secrets already, too), but the bookworms in the fandom are surely wondering if an Outer Banks book or novelization could be on the way along with the new season.

Will there be a book based on Outer Banks?

As luck would have it, there seems to be an official book coming out this year! Devoted OBX fans tracked down details on the upcoming novelization, sharing the good news and their excitement for the forthcoming tome on Twitter along with details about the future page-turner.

According to an Amazon listing, Outer Banks: Lights Out was written by best-selling author Alyssa Shienmel, who also wrote such books as The Castle School (for Troubled Girls), A Danger to Herself and Others, Faceless and What Kind of Girl.

What is the Outer Banks book about?

The Outer Banks book currently looks to have a release date of Nov. 23, 2021, which is just in time for the holidays and will definitely cure your post-season 2 doldrums.

Here’s the official Outer Banks: Lights Out synopsis via Amazon:

It’s spring break in the Outer Banks, and the islands are swarming with rich tourists. The last thing JJ and John B want to do is spend their week watching Kooks in action, so they plan a fishing getaway to the notoriously dangerous Frying Pan Shoals—nicknamed “Graveyard of the Atlantic” for good reason.

While it remains to be seen if the book is based on an upcoming episode or if an upcoming episode will adapt the novel’s story, it’s a can’t-miss adventure with John B and JJ for the biggest OBX fans. The book teases a new character and all of the mystery we love from the hit series.
