Apple’s new Beats Studio Buds are out today and Android fans will love them

When Apple releases new products, they usually work best within the company’s own ecosystem. For example, you can’t even set up an Apple Watch without an iPhone in your pocket, and Apple AirPods will only automatically connect to California-branded devices, such as Mac or iPads.

However, the latest Apple-owned Beats earbuds are changing that pattern. The new Beats-branded Studio Buds offer Android users as many features as those with an iPhone in their pocket. Flip open the lid of the Buds for the first time and no matter what phone you have, you’ll get the same simple one-touch pairing. That means you don’t have to dig into the Bluetooth settings to get the music going. Once the earbuds are first close, a pop-up will appear on the screen and one tap will connect everything.

By comparison, Beats’ Powerbeats Pro earbuds pair with an iPhone with a single tap… but Android users are forced to manually pair in their handset’s Bluetooth settings menu.

That easy connection isn’t the only change coming to the Studio Buds, as unlike most of the latest Beats headphones, these new wireless music makers come with a USB-C connection for charging rather than the unique Apple Lightning Port. Most Android devices now have USB-C, so owners can top up the Buds with the same cable that powers their phones again. Apple fans can also use their MacBook or iPad Pro charger as these devices also come with USB-C cables.

Finally, if you happen to lose them, don’t panic as Beats Studio Buds is the first Beats product to support both Find My in iOS and Find My Device on Android.

Other extras that come in these earbuds include Active Noise Canceling technology to block out unwanted background noise.

To kick things up a notch, you get Apple’s clever Spatial Audio technology, which makes the sound seem to hit your ears from all directions for a much more immersive experience.

Of course, like all wireless buds, there’s a little charging case that gives the battery a boost when things run out. There is also a nice Fast Fuel charging option with a quick 5 minutes in the case that provides an hour of music.

The design should mean they will survive the British weather and your trips to the gym with an IPX4 water resistance rating.

“When building a product, this small, every tiniest detail has been considered, analyzed and selected to optimize for sound quality, comfort and durability,” said Oliver Schusser, vice president of Beats and Apple Music. “Studio Buds are our smallest, most subtle form factor yet, but keep Beats’ promise of delivering an immersive sound experience in a beautiful design.”

The Beats Studio Buds are available today for £129.99 in three colours, white, black and red. Express.co.uk will give you a full review in the coming days, so keep an eye on this space.
