HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon to stop production after positive COVID-19 test

Per Variety, HBO has had to stop production on its Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon after a positive COVID-19 case on set. The outlet reports that the positive test was discovered on Monday, July 19, and shooting will resume on Wednesday, July 21, after a two-day break.

House of the Dragon takes place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones and follows the Targaryen family in the prime of their power in Westeros. All is not well, however, as civil war rages within the Targaryen family that will reshape the future of the Seven Kingdoms. and the Targaryen dynasty.

House of the Dragon stars Paddy Considine (the maverick), Matt Smith (doctor who), Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One), Emma D’Arcy (truth seekers), Rhys Ifans (The Amazing Spider-Man), Steve Toussaint (small axe), Sonoya Minuzo (Crazy Rich Asians), Eva Best (Nurse Jackie), Graham McTavish (Foreigner).

House of the Dragon is a 10-episode series co-created by George RR Martin and Ryan Condal. Condal co-wrote the script with Sara Lee Hess. He will also serve as co-showrunner alongside Game of Thrones veteran Miguel Sapochnik.
