Deadline reports that Victoria Cartagena (Manifest) will take on the role of Renee Montoya in the upcoming third season of the DC series batwoman – or rather, she will reprise the role.
Cartagena previously played the character of Renee Montoya in Gotham, however, the report clarified that her casting in The CW’s batwoman is not the same character as the one that appeared in Gotham.
According to the trade: “Cartagena’s Montoya is a former GCPD officer who left the police force when she could no longer bear the corruption within the department. She now runs the “freaks division”, which has not seen much action thus far. Righteous and pragmatic, and LGBTQ+, she is a woman with a very personal (and mysterious) mission to clean the streets of Gotham the right way, by any means necessary.”
Victoria Cartagena took to Twitter in response to her return to the role of Renee Montoya on another show:
I suspect #Reneemontoya and I have some unfinished business️ So very excited to join this new group of talented artists, writers and crew doing their thing here! They made me very welcome! Grateful, humble, hype AF… #batwoman #full circle https://t.co/eeNCmptT7v
