Genshin Impact maintenance is scheduled for today and will impact the popular action RPG on PS4, PC and mobile.

Developers Mihoyo have confirmed Genshin’s downtime will last five hours, and gamers have been warned that maintenance could take longer if necessary.

The good news is that when things are done, the Akaya banner will launch alongside the new 2.0 content slated for July.

New characters to be added include Ayaka, a five-star Cryo, who will be unlocked alongside the four-star characters Chongyum and Yanfei.

The official character description reads: “Daughter of the Kamisato Clan of the Yashiro Commission. Dignity and elegant, but also wise and strong.

“Inazuma Shogunate, Yashiro Commission, Kamisato Clan. Widely known as one of the most prominent clans in all of Inazuma, it is the branch of the Tri-Commission that manages ceremonial and cultural affairs.

“Since my parents passed away, brother and I took responsibility for all clan affairs, big and small.

“During the event wish, The Heron’s Court, the event-exclusive 5-star character “Frostflake Heron” Kamisato Ayaka (Cryo) gets a massive drop-rate boost.”

AYAKA DETAILS

Ayaka’s elemental ability, Kamisato Art: Hyouka can share AoE Cryo DMG with surrounding opponents. Her alternate sprint, Kamisato Art: Senho, allows her to move at high speed in the form of a torrent on the water or on the ground. When Ayaka reappears, she will be temporarily cryo-infused.

When she throws her Elemental Burst, Kamisato Art: Soumetsu, Ayaka unleashes a long-lasting Frostflake Seki no To, a storm of swirling icy wind that repeatedly slashes at any opponent it touches, dividing Cryo DMG.

HOW TIME DOES THE GENSHIN IMPACT MAINTENANCE START?

The official Genshin Impact maintenance time has been set for Wednesday 21st July at 11pm BST.

Server downtime is expected to last approximately five hours and will end with the release of Genshin 2.0

Mihoyo also offers a maintenance fee of approximately 300 Primogems for each player after everything is completed.

Maintenance fee: Primogems ×300 (60 Primogems per hour that the servers go down).

Problem Solution Compensation: Primogems ×300 (please refer to the relevant compensation email for more details).

The official release time of Genshin 2.0 has been set for July 22 at around 4pm BST in the UK.

For gamers in North America, the new Genshin update will be available for download on July 21 at 8pm PST.

A post from Mihoyo adds: “To ensure that all Travelers have the best possible Genshin Impact experience, our developers will start performing update maintenance soon. After this is completed, the game will be updated to a new version.

“After Travelers installs the new game client, they can continue playing. Due to the large file size, it is recommended to install the update over a Wi-Fi connection.

“While update maintenance is underway, travelers will not be able to log into the game. Keep in mind the update time and schedule your game time accordingly to avoid losing your progress. We hope Travelers will be patient with us during the disruption.”
