A new thrilling miniseries is coming to Netflix in August, and you won’t want to miss this one. Clickbait is an eight-episode thriller that will be your best summer binge-watch. Entertainment Weekly has reported that the official teaser has been released, and you’ve got to see it below.

Clickbait shows the dark side of social media as it is used to fuel people’s fears. On the surface, Nick Brewer (Adrian Grenier) is your typical father and husband, but when he mysteriously disappears, his family and friends realize there is more to this man than they all thought — and that isn’t a good thing.

While his family frantically searches for him, a video of Nick appears on the internet of him holding a sign reading, “I abuse women. At 5 million views, I die.” He is beaten and bloody in the video, and no one knows if this is a confession or a threat.

This brings to mind another Netflix series, You, where the main character is calm on the surface, but beneath that, things are just not what they seem.

Nick Brewer (Adrian Grenier) is a loving father, husband, and brother, who one day suddenly and mysteriously disappears. A video appears on the internet of the badly beaten Nick holding a card that says “I abuse women. At 5 million views, I die”. Is this a threat or confession? Or both? As his sister (Zoe Kazan) and wife (Betty Gabriel) rush to find and save him, they uncover a side of Nick they didn’t know existed. An eight-episode limited series told from revolving points of view, Clickbait is a compelling, high stakes thriller that explores the ways in which our most dangerous and uncontrolled impulses are fueled in the age of social media, revealing the ever-widening fractures we find between our virtual and real-life personas.
