Yes, the rumors were true! Samsung is about to hold its next Unpacked event and the leaked August 11 date has now been officially confirmed. The Korean tech giant has just revealed that its next showcase will be on that date early next month and is expecting a keynote packed with shiny new devices.

Samsung announced the news on its website: “We live in an age of accelerated change – from rapid shifts in work culture to the emergence of advanced communication technologies. Now more than ever, there is a need for flexible, versatile mobile devices that can keep up with the fast pace of can keep up with our lives so that we can maximize and enjoy every moment.

“Join Samsung Electronics on August 11 for a Galaxy Unpacked event to unfold the next chapter in mobile innovations designed to help you make the most of every moment, wherever you are.”

At this point, that’s all we know, but one of the biggest new devices to be unveiled at Unpacked for sure is the new Galaxy Watch. Samsung has already confirmed that the next wearable will be launched in the summer and will be the first device with the new One UI Watch operating system.

Created through a joint venture between Sasmung and Google, this software promises “an all-new Galaxy Watch experience”.

Improvements include better app compatibility, with most applications downloaded on phones appearing right on the watch face.

Other settings, such as world clocks and call blocking, are also automatically adjusted depending on how your Android phone is set up.

Samsung also promises that this unified platform will “open up new features and integrations” with popular third-party apps available to download directly from Google Play to your Galaxy Watch.

“Samsung and Google have a long history of working together, and when we’ve worked together, the experience for our consumers has been significantly better for everyone,” said Sameer Samat, Vice President of Product Management, Android and Wear, Google.

Along with this new Galaxy Watch, rumors suggest Samsung will unveil a number of new phones at Unpacked this year, including upgraded Galaxy Fold and Flip devices that could make these bendable phones faster and more waterproof.

The release of a cheaper flagship called the Galaxy S21 FE (Fan Edition) may also happen on Unpacked with recent leaks suggesting that this mid-range device could get a fast Snapdragon 888 processor, smooth 120Hz display and triple rear camera. If the S21 FE is comparable to last year’s S20 FE, expect this call maker to be around £100 cheaper than its more premium sibling.

Finally, we expect Samsung to unveil its new Galaxy Buds, the latest addition to its range of wireless earbuds.
