“We have a passionate team at Motive who approach this remake as a love letter to the franchise.
“Going back to the original and being able to do this on next-gen consoles has excited everyone on the team. As we look to modernize the game, we’ve approached dedicated fans and invited them to give us feedback since the beginning. production stages to deliver the Dead Space game they want and for new players to enjoy.”
EA said the Dead Space remake will feature “improved story, characters, gameplay mechanics and more”.
The first game was released in 2008 and follows engineer Isaac Clarke as he joins a search and rescue team aboard the USG Ishimura starship.
Clarke sets out to find his girlfriend Nicole, but gets more than he bargained for when he discovers the ship has been overrun by the terrifying necromorphic creatures.
In addition to fighting these hostile, monstrous aliens, Isaac also has to deal with his own mind that is fraying.
Dead Space is arguably one of the most terrifying survival horror games ever made, and fans have long hoped the series would return after a long hiatus.
