It seems that there are currently several game services available, after a Akamai Outage of Edge DNS service. It appears that the outage has resulted in PlayStation Network, Steam, and Xbox Live being unavailable. There are no details yet on how long it could take. On Akamai’s side, it noted that the company is aware of the issue and investigating it. The statement was issued on 16:09 UTC on July 22, 2021.
Here is Akamai’s full statement.
We are aware of an emerging issue with the Edge DNS service.
We are actively investigating the issue. If you have any questions or are experiencing this issue, please contact Akamai Technical Support. In the interest of time, we provide you with the most current information available, which is subject to changes, corrections and updates.
Right now, user reports are the only ones bringing this up. The official Play station and Xbox sites both display the status of PSN and Xbox Live as normal. Also, an attempt to visit Steam may trigger a “Service Not Available DNS Error” message. Other affected games and services with issues that appear to be related include: Fortnite.
There’s no word on how long the outage could last while PSN, Xbox Live, and Steam are down.
