Movie Icon Pam Grier Joins Pet Sematary’s Upcoming Prequel

From Jackie Brown to fighting the supernatural, Pam Grier has done it all. Now she covers one of Stephen King’s most iconic stories in a new a nieuwe Pet Sematary precursor.

Variety reports that Grier will join the cast, which includes Jackson White as a young Jud Crandall, Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Natalie Alyn Lind and Isabella Star LeBlanc.

Grier is known for her iconic roles in films such as coffee, Foxy Brownand Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown. She is also no stranger to the horror genre, as she played in the Scream Blacula Scream, bones, and Ghosts of Mars.

Variety notes that the Lindsey Beer-directed film “will serve as an origin story for Stephen King’s novel about a family who discover a rather disturbing graveyard in the woods behind their home.”

Little else is known, but rumors have circulated since the shooting of a young Jud Crandall that we will see exploring the story of Timmy Baterman, a soldier who was killed in action and resuscitated by his father, only to terrorize the town at his return from the dead.

The still untitled Pet Sematary will begin production in August, starring Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian. The film will debut exclusively on the Paramount+ streaming service.
