Kojima Productions Head of Publishing Jay Boor recently shared an update with media outlet GamesIndustry.biz regarding sales of the hit video game Death Stranding.
According to Boor, five million copies of the game have now been sold worldwide on PS4 and PC. He revealed that it performed “pretty well” and the studio is optimistic about the release of the Director’s Cut on the PlayStation 5 in September 2021.
Boor revealed that as of March 2021, the game has reached this major milestone globally, meaning it’s a big mark on the game studio’s first title ever developed.
Death Stranding sales just proved that the upcoming Director’s Cut is something for fans to look forward to. While it will only be a PS5 exclusive, it will see a host of changes including visual improvements, new features, weapons, game modes, and the central ‘social section’ feature has been improved for the better.
“The goal of Director’s Cut was to introduce new content that would further expand the world within Death Stranding while enhancing the core gaming experience and its features,” Boor revealed.
Death Stranding is already available on PS4 and PC. Director’s Cut will be released exclusively for PS5 on September 24, 2021.
