As part of the final day of Comic-Con@Home, doctor who showrunner Chris Chibnall, Thirteenth Doctor Jodie Whittaker and Companions Mandip Gill and John Bishop took part in a virtual panel for the iconic British sci-fi show, sharing a teaser trailer and initial details for the upcoming thirteenth series.

In a first doctor who, the new series will feature a single serialized storyline over a shortened run of eight episodes, both due to production challenges due to the pandemic, as Chibnall explained:

“Before we started it, there were times when we thought we wouldn’t be able to do the show this year under Covid conditions…there were two ways you could go. You could go “let’s do a lot of little episodes in one room, no monsters,” or we could pick up the gauntlet and do the biggest story we’ve ever done. We’ll go to all kinds of different places, we’ll have all kinds of characters and monsters, and it’ll all be part of a bigger picture. It’s definitely the most ambitious thing we’ve done since we’ve been on the series.”
