Upgrading GTA Online with new content for PS5 and Xbox Series X won’t be enough to satiate fans waiting to play Grand Theft Auto 6.

But while most gamers are ready to enjoy a new game from Rockstar Games, chances are we can wait for GTA 6 for years to come.

A recent announcement from the GTA development team confirmed the first changes to the next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online.

This includes support for higher top speeds on select vehicles, with these new changes being made within the LS Car Meet.

We already know that Rockstar will offer a more technically enhanced experience, including better graphics and performance.

Adding this to the story mode will be a boon to those who haven’t played it, or are hoping to enjoy it again.

But the bulk of the new bundle is slated for GTA Online on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

As a rough estimate, we’d expect GTA Online to receive major updates every few months, perhaps more often after the next-gen version of the game is released.

This is scheduled for November 11th and a lot more information about it will be shared before the big release.

2022 is expected to be a pivotal year for GTA Online, and it should come as no surprise that Rockstar continues to release more and more exclusive content for the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game.

However, basic support remains for PS4 and Xbox One, and it’s hard to say how far and how fast Rockstar will go with its next-gen support.

It would make sense that GTA Online could support an exclusive next-gen map, making it possible to continue supporting the game for generations.

It would also help bridge the GTA 6 release date gap, which isn’t expected to happen until 2023, but maybe even further into the future.

But when something like this does happen, it’s easy to see why Grand Theft Auto fans are so desperate to see a new game come out.

Even though GTA Online has become hugely popular, tons of gamers still want to experience a huge and immersive new world and story.

It can be fun to relive Trevor’s adventures around Los Santos, but the idea of waiting so long to experience the next big GTA caper is disappointing.

A big part of Grand Theft Auto’s appeal is the stories and the living world you can explore.

And while the world of GTA Online is expected to get better over the years, the story available in multiplayer is utterly lackluster.

The RPG elements aren’t really there, and Rockstar Games is more focused on adding new races and things to spend in-game money on rather than providing something with great narrative elements.

Faster cars are great, but fans are ready for the next big adventure that will be available in Grand Theft Auto 6.
