Xur returns to Destiny 2 today, offering up a new selection of juicy gear to buy in exchange for Legendary Shards.

The big mystery will be where Xur is and what he’s selling, and unfortunately for us, we’ll have to wait for those answers until later.

Bungie never reveals where the mysterious Merchant will appear in the world of Destiny, or what he has in his tricks.

It’s up to Guardians to search the various locations that we know Xur may appear in, most commonly including Nessus, The Tower, and the Winding Cove.

Bungie hasn’t added any new locations in a while, so it means we’ve got a shortlist of places to visit later today on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Xur will be offering a new range of exotic weapons, exotic armor and an exotic engram on Friday, July 30 at 6:00 PM BST.

He will remain in the game for a short period of time and will disappear on Tuesday, August 3 as part of the first monthly rest.

And when it comes out today, we’ll be sure to add everything Xur offers this week to the top of this article.

Last week, guards tracked down the elusive Merchant on Nessus, near the Watcher’s Grave, located in the Giant Tree.

Xur sold The Liar’s Handshake for 23 Legendary Shards, The Huckleberry for 29 Legendary Shareds, Karnstein Armlets for 23 Legendary Shards and Mk. 44 Move aside for 23.

For those of you who forgot, Legendary Shards used by Xur items are remnants of powerful items used to upgrade equipment or trade it for other items.

It should also be noted that Xur will drop items that are similar in power level to your character.

And another part of Xur that’s new in the latest version of Destiny 2 is that he’s now dropping Cipher Quests for free.

The Quest will reward you with an exotic number, and last week involved completing 21 Strikes or winning the same number of Crucible or Gambit matches.

Each week, Guardians can acquire one Exotic Engram using Legendary Shards that are decoded as Exotics not already in your collection.

Today, Bungie also saw other big news for August, with Crossplay returning to the game.

“Cross Play comes to life in Season 15. Guardians on Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Stadia can join fire teams to take on the Darkness together. Boundaries will be crossed and new friendships forged – regardless of platform.

“At the start of Season 14, we’ve been touring the platform streams and inviting you to participate in a three-day Vanguard Strikes Cross Play matchmaking beta. Our goals were to prove early versions of our matchmaking changes, as well as test connectivity for gameplay between the platforms.

“Lots of Guardians answered the call and helped us test the backend of this upcoming feature! It turns out we accidentally left an unintentional door open… oops. While we had to close that down, we weren’t the only ones excited to finally cuddle our long-lost cross-platform friends in the game.

“Thank you for traveling with us. You’ve helped build confidence in what we’re delivering to the community in Season 15: full crossplay across all Destiny 2 platforms.”
