Sucker Punch Senior Staff Writer Patrick Downs recently shared some new details about the upcoming video game Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut and the new Iki Island.
Players are curious to see what new content the Director’s Cut will bring and what the difference will be from the original version. One of their concerns was the ability to travel from the then main island of Tsushima to the new Iki Island. Will they be able to go there without an in-game lock?
Downs confirmed that players can indeed travel freely between Tsushima and Iki Island, but that will be at some point in the game.
“In the beginning you have to do some things – Iki is a tough place for a samurai – but once you can do that you can go back and forth freely,” explains Downs. “And it’s designed this way again, we want this to be intertwined with the main game and not feel like a closed-off little bubble universe. It’s part of the same world.”
Downs also clarified that while the Iki Island story is accessible in the second act of the main story, players who are already in the later parts or have already completed it and now after the game can still approach it the same way. New Game+ players can do the same, but it still starts at act two.
Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut and the Iki island content will be available for PS4 and PS5 on August 20, 2021.
