Later this year, Tom Holland will star in his third Spider-Man movie: No Way Home. The film introduces a collection of various Spider-Men, including former stars of the character Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. While Spidey is one of the most popular series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, MJ star Zendaya says it could be coming to an end soon.

Zendaya recently spoke candidly about the future of the series.

She said being part of the series and filming the third movie was “so much fun” but also “a little bittersweet”.

The 24-year-old added: “We don’t know if we’re going to do another one.

“Are it just going to be three and that’s it? Normally you do three movies and that’s about it.” (Via E! News)

Zendaya added, “There have been so many different Spideys before us…making everyone proud is a priority.”

The young star also spoke about what it was like to be on set for No Way Home – the possible end of the Spidey series.

She said: “We were all absorbing and taking the time to just enjoy the moment, be together and be so grateful for that experience. It’s pretty special to have all grown up together.”

Holland has also spoken out in the past about ending the Spider-Man series.

Despite the film possibly closing the MCU Spider-Man’s journey, the Netherlands wants to come back.

Last year he said: “[No Way Home] would be my last [under contract], so I’ve always told them if they want me back, I’ll be right there.

“I loved every minute of being a part of this amazing world. It has changed my life for the better, I am so lucky to be here.

“If they want me back, I’ll be there. If they don’t, I’ll walk into the sunset a very, very happy person because it’s been an amazing journey.”

Spider-Man movies were generally short-lived in the past.

Before Holland, Maguire was the most successful cinematic Spider-Man, appearing in three films before the series was canceled.

It’s also worth noting that Marvel rarely produces more than three solo movies for their superheroes.

The legendary Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) had three solo films before falling out in Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame.

Likewise, Captain America (Chris Evans) had three movies – The First Avenger, The Winter Soldier, and Civil War – before Marvel closed the chapter of his story.

The upcoming third Guardians movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, would also be the last movie in the series.

With that in mind, will Spider-Man decide after No Way Home?

Spider-Man No Way Home hits theaters on December 17, 2021.
