Back 4 Blood is a spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead that captures the imagination of gamers on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
And the good news is, unlike other exciting projects that have been limited to long-term betas on PC, a Back 4 Blood open beta has been announced for PC and consoles.
This means anyone can join in and try out the new game when it comes out later this year.
Described as a first-person shooter, Back 4 Blood combines tight cards and cooperative play in a world overrun by undead.
Zombies have played out pretty well in popular culture, but Back 4 Blood has the right DNA to become one of the leading names in the bloated game genre.
The story description fills in more of the gaps, telling gamers, “You are at the center of a war against the Ridden.
“These once-human hosts of a deadly parasite have turned into terrifying creatures bent on devouring the remnants of civilization. With the extinction of humanity at stake, it’s up to you and your friends to face the enemy, wipe out the mounted humans, and reclaim the world.”
Working your way through hordes of zombies as a group sounds like a recipe for success, but a lot can depend on how replayable this experience is.
WHEN IS THE BACK 4 BLOOD EARLY ACCESS BETA?
Back 4 Blood is hosting several tests this year before launching on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms.
The first phase is the Back 4 Blood early access beta, the release date of which is slated for Thursday, August 5, 2021.
As of now, there are three ways to participate in the Back 4 Blood early access period; by pre-ordering the game, via Twitch Drops, or by putting your name in the hat on the official game website.
By signing, you have a small chance that you will be sent a code and added to the early access.
Players can also register at Back4Blood.com/Beta for a chance to win the Early Access portion, but it should be noted that registration does not guarantee early access as codes are limited.
The good news is that while Back 4 Blood’s early access period has been locked for some, there’s a lot more planned for August.
The Back 4 Blood open beta release date is scheduled for August 12 and will be available on all platforms.
Some players on the console may require a multiplayer subscription to play during this time.
And we also know when it all kicks off, with the Back 4 Blood early access and open beta release time set to 6pm BST on August 5 and 12.
The full access period runs from August 5 to 9 in early access and from August 12 to 16 for open beta.
A message from the Back 4 Blood team explains: “Pre-ordering will give you access to the Early Access portion of the open beta from August 5-9.
“You can also register for a chance to enter the Early Access portion of the Open Beta, but please note that registration does not guarantee early access as codes are limited.
“Players must have or create a WB Games account to redeem their Open Beta code.
The open beta from August 12-16 is available to all players. Pre-ordering is not required to play Back 4 Blood during this time.”
