Are you planning to play a quick game of Battle Royale tonight? You better make sure you know the Fortnite downtime schedule.

Epic Games has announced that the Fortnite servers will be offline for a short period on August 17 to allow for another update.

Fortnite’s downtime is expected to last several hours and includes a download at the end for gamers to install.

This week’s Season 7 patch will be slightly larger than the August 5:30 PM update; however, it probably won’t feature a major World Concert event.

Instead, Fortnite 17.40 update is expected to bring a new wave of content to the game, starting with weapons.

It’s not fully confirmed, but recent news from data miners suggests the Exotic Burst Pulse Rifle is coming to Fortnite very soon.

This could be included in today’s patch, in addition to continuing the current Fortnite Season 7 storyline.

More areas of the map are expected to change, with several POIs disappearing, culminating in a big reveal during Season 8.

Coral Castle could be the next place to disappear, but in the end it’s up to Epic Games to confirm what’s planned.

WHEN DOES FORTNITE DOWNTIME BEGIN FOR UPDATE 17.21?

Fortnite server downtime scheduled for today will begin on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 9:00 AM BST.

For gamers in the United States, this means same-day maintenance starting at 4:00 AM EDT.

No one should wait for the servers to come back as all platforms will be online at the same time.

Also keep in mind that servers go offline thirty minutes in advance, meaning you have to end games before 8:30am BST.

And while Epic Games hasn’t given an exact time when servers will be back online, they’ve confirmed how long it could take.

According to the support team, Fortnite’s current downtime can last up to four hours, with most maintenance periods ending before the estimated downtime.

If not, it would mean that the servers will be unavailable until Tuesday, August 17 at around 1:00 PM BST.

A message from Epic Games adds: “Get your Coral Buddy. v17.40 rises on August 17!

“In preparation for the update, downtime will begin at approximately 4:00 AM ET. Matchmaking is about to turn off. 30 minutes earlier.”
