Developer Cold Symmetry has confirmed that his Mortal Shell project is coming to Steam, after spending a year exclusively on the Epic Games Store.
This week, Mortal Shell will make its first appearance on Valve’s platform, alongside the game’s latest DLC offering.
The Virtuous Cycle DLC will change the usual formula and add roguelike elements to the Mortal Shell experience.
The new mode makes it possible to play the game in different ways, where no two runs are the same.
Combat discipline will be available from upgrade pillars scattered throughout Fallgrim, with over 100 upgrades, including exotic weapon improvements.
The next Shell will also launch as part of the Virtuous Cycle, with Hadern becoming Mortal Shell’s fifth ownable Shell.
Hadern will be playable in both Mortal Shell’s main campaign and The Virtuous Cycle, offering unique skill trees that unlock a new realm of innate talents.
WHAT IS THE MORTAL SHELL STEAM AND DLC RELEASE DATE?
According to the latest news shared on the official Steam page, Mortal Shell’s release time has been set for Wednesday, August 18 at 2:00 PM BST.
This remains a predicted launch window, meaning it could change as we get closer to the final release date.
And a big boost has also been shared by the team, showing that they can unlock the new Virtuous Cycle DLC for free for a limited period of time.
Those who pick up Mortal Shell and the DLC between August 18 and 22 will not have to pay the additional cost for the expansion.
A message from the Mortal Shell team explains: “We have thought a lot about how we can thank our incredible community for your support, and we think we have found a way to express our pure appreciation.
You can keep the Virtuous Cycle expansion for free. As long as you download it in the first five days of its release – between August 18 and August 22 – you can keep it without paying anything.
“After that, it will revert to its original suggested retail price of $7.99 / €6.99 / £6.99. (You must also have Mortal Shell installed to access The Virtuous Cycle).
“We hope you love The Virtuous Cycle – it turns Mortal Shell into a relentless and exciting roguelike, with over 125 skills to customize your playstyle. Finally you get to own Hadern and control the Axatana – a wondrous transforming weapon.”
