Rumor has it that the August 2021 State of Play will air this week. It is believed that Sony could follow the May 2021 State of Play, which focused on Horizon Forbidden West, in just a few days with another PS4 and PS5 game showcase. According to the rumor mill, the August 2021 State of Play will take place on Thursday, August 19.

If so, the start date and time for the next State of Play could be officially confirmed on Tuesday, August 17.

That’s if Sony follows the schedule of past announcements confirming upcoming State of Play dates and times.

The possible state of affairs on August 19 was revealed by tweeter @HazzadorGamin.

The Twitter user also claimed that Dark Souls developers were making FromSoftware an exclusive game for the PS5.

However, this unannounced title – which could be revealed during an upcoming state of affairs – is not Bloodborne 2.

On Twitter, @HazzadorGamin posted: “Rumor-Sony State of Play Show around August 19 #StateOfPlay

“Also FromSoftware makes Souls like Exclusive for Ps not Bloodborne 2… This comes from the same source that revealed Ghost of Tsushima iki island dlc via Dealer Gaming #Playstation”.

The FromSoftware rumor was then supported by Shpeshal_Nick, the co-host of the XboxEra Podcast.

The XboxEra co-founder quoted HazadorGamin’s tweet, tweeting, “My rumor mill has gone *** again.”

In a later post, Shpeshal_Nick revealed that he would also be sharing the FromSoftware news, which he had also heard about.

He posted: “No, this is about the From PS5 Exclusive. That was my rumor mill for next week.”

Future Games Show producer James Jarvis made predictions about what might be announced during the next state of play.

Jarvis predicts that the rumored release date delay for Horizon Forbidden West could be officially confirmed in the next state of play.

Jarvis also tipped off a “surprise announcement” for the August 2021 state of play.

Jarvis tweeted: “Rumors suggesting the next Sony State of Play will be announced tomorrow. With the August 19 stream. If so, I expect it to include: Horizon delay officially confirmed with new gameplay.

“Kena extended look. Update on Gran Turismo. New surprise announcement”.

Elsewhere, gamers are getting an update on the next-gen version of GTA 5 – due out later this year.

The expanded and enhanced version of GTA 5 was first announced at the PS5 reveal event, so we could get an update on it in a future state of play.

There are also rumors that Rockstar could be preparing to launch a remaster of the original PS2 GTA trilogy.

So those are remasters of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas. If Rockstar Games reveals news about the PS5 version of GTA 5 during an upcoming State of Play, it could also announce news about the GTA PS2 remasters at the same time.

As always with rumours, it’s best to take it with a grain of salt until official confirmation.
