Microsoft has confirmed its plans to add six new titles to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service before making any announcements about Games with Gold in September.

There are reports that the tech giant planned to discontinue Xbox Live Gold, leaving the Game Pass as its main service product.

However, no official news has been released to back this up, suggesting new Games with Gold news will be shared very soon for September 2021.

Microsoft shares its Games with Gold lineups at the end of each month, making August 30 an excellent date to reveal the news.

That means the next free games are unlikely to be confirmed this week, and fans will have to wait a little longer before finding out what will replace Darksiders 3.

Meanwhile, Xbox Game Pass is getting another wave of content this month, with more expected to be announced in September.

The first of these titles released today on PC, and Humankind is now available for download via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Other changes have also been made for those with the best subscription service as three EA Games have become available through cloud services.

This includes Need for Speed Heat, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Soon after, a new wave of games will be added to the library, with Recompile the next Xbox Series X title to join the service.

Described as a Metroidvania title, Recompile lets you take control of a semi-sapient program that struggles with uninstallation. Set in the vast 3D world of the mainframe, Recompile offers hacking combat coupled with 3D platforming, super-powered abilities and an environmental logic-based hacking mechanic.

The full game description adds: “Many environmental features, such as locked doors, force fields, elevators, and even enemy spawning systems are all powered by intricate, interconnected logic gate circuitry.

“Nothing is hardcoded, everything is systemic and all fully exploitable. Logic gates can be freely inverted (and reversed), allowing puzzles or other threatening obstacles to be circumvented peacefully and safely. Even the residents themselves can be tampered with, their programming has been changed to follow the player’s commands.”

Recompile arrives on Xbox Game Pass on August 19, the same day Train Sim World 2 and Twelve Minutes make their debut.

The last games of the month coming to the Xbox One and Xbox Series X service are Psychonauts 2, developed by Xbox Game Studios and Double Fine Productions, and Myst.
