Samsung is trying to entice iPhone owners to switch to its latest foldable smartphones with a huge cashback offer. The new Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 were announced earlier this month and offer a more robust folding design that can survive a week for the first time. There are also better cameras, improved displays with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and more power thanks to the latest and greatest Snapdragon 888 processor.

With prices starting at £949 for the Flip3 and £1,550 for the Fold3, these aren’t cheap phones by any means, but anyone with the latest iPhone in their pocket can save big. Samsung is currently offering over £500 off the new Fold models for anyone eager to hand over their Apple device and replace it with something more flexible.

Right now you get £550 off when trading in an iPhone 12 or £450 if you happen to own an iPhone 11. Samsung is even giving owners of the older iPhone X a hefty £350 if they’re happy to switch to Android.

In addition to these trade-in deals, Samsung also offers a free one-year subscription to the Care+ service, which includes battery replacement and repair, even if it breaks accidentally.

Foldable phones are still a relatively new concept, but Samsung hopes these latest models will help make this clever idea more mainstream. One of the biggest concerns surrounding these devices is their ability to survive life on the road.

The original Fold was criticized for being far too fragile, with Samsung delaying its release because a number of reviewers broke their devices ahead of its 2019 launch. The 2021 range now gets a stronger Armor Aluminum case and new Gorilla Glass Victus, which according to Samsung, it is 80 percent more sustainable than before.

There’s also that new IPX8 rating, which basically means the devices have to survive a dip in the local pool without getting submerged.

“We are proud pioneers of the foldable smartphones category and are building on our legacy of innovation to shape the future of this industry,” said Conor Pierce, Corporate Vice President UK & Ireland, Samsung Electronics. “With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and Flip3, we are developing our Galaxy Z Series portfolio with two devices built for the varying demands of today’s fast-paced world. For the first time, our beloved S Pen comes to the Galaxy Z series with the Galaxy Z Fold3, while the Galaxy Z Flip3 is packed with more power than ever before.”
