In a new interview with Mr. Dell actor JB Smoove, it was revealed that Maguire is making a comeback.

The actor has been part of the series since Spider-Man: Homecoming, before reprising his role in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The American star was asked, “Which Spider-Man did you love to see Tom Holland share the screen with: Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield?”

This information may not come as a complete surprise to fans, as the trailer for No Way Home has just been released, which revealed the return of a classic Spider-Man villain.

During the final moments of the featured video, a set of metal tentacles attacked Dutch Peter before revealing Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus.

The menacing enemy said, “Hello, Peter,” before Spidey got ready for battle.

The mere presence of Molina’s Doc Ock suggests Maguire could make an appearance, as they battle it out in 2004’s Spider-Man 2.

Maguire has not yet publicly confirmed or denied whether he is involved in the upcoming Spidey movie.

However, Garfield has vehemently denied any involvement in the film.

He said in May, “I can’t speak for anything else, but for myself. Maybe they’re doing something, but I didn’t get a call.”

The British star added: “I see how often Spider-Man is trending and it’s like people are freaking out. And I’m like, ‘Guys, guys, guys’ – I wish I could talk to everyone and say: ‘I recommend you chill out.'” (Via The Happy Sad Confused Podcast)

When asked to clarify his stance on not being in the film, Garfield said, “I should have been called by now. That’s what I’m saying.”

However, he didn’t rule it out. He added: “I don’t want to rule anything out. Maybe they’re going to call me and say, ‘Hey, people want this.’ …Maybe they’re doing it as a market research thing.”

Holland has also denied that Maguire or Garfield have any involvement in the film.

When asked by Jimmy Fallon if fans will see the previous Spideys, he replied, “No, no, they won’t be in this movie.”

Holland continued: “Unless they have hidden the most enormous information from me, which I think is too big a secret to keep from me.

“It would be a miracle if they could have kept that to myself.”

Molina, on the other hand, confirmed his involvement with the film long before the trailer was released, calling it the “worst kept secret in Hollywood”.

Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on December 17, 2021.
