The next major Minecraft update will bring major changes to the game through the new Caves and Cliffs expansion.

It started earlier this summer when Part 1 went live, making it possible to mine copper, fight goats and build the latest gadgets.

Gamers will have noticed that they can now find blocks such as Small and Large Drip Leaf, Pointed Dripstone, Cave Vines and Glowing Berries, Azalea and Azalea Leaves, Flowering Azalea and Flowering Azalea Leaves, Hanging Roots, Rooted Dirt, Moss Carpet and Moss Block.

And part 2 of the Caves and Cliffs expansion promises many more exciting things that will change Minecraft forever.

One of the biggest changes in Caves and Cliffs Part 2 is Terrain Generation, where Mojang strives to make everything fit together better while providing new mountains and details.

The visual aspect of the game is undergoing major overhaul and now fans just want to know when Minecraft 1.18 will be available to play.

The good news is that Mojang and Microsoft have confirmed that the next major Minecraft update will be available for download in 2021.

No set release date has been shared, but it will fall during “Holiday 2021”, giving the development team a wide range of dates.

However, a recent announcement from Mojang suggests it won’t happen in early October, ruling out the earliest launch schedule.

Mojang is hosting a huge livestream event on October 16 that is expected to feature all the biggest news from the blocky world.

And if it does, it seems quite likely that it will provide a deep dive in the new Minecraft 1.18 update.

This means that Caves and Cliffs Part 2 is unlikely to arrive before the live stream, although a release date could be announced during the event.

The full details of the announcement do not refer to Minecraft 1.18, so this remains a prediction for now.

The Minecraft team’s post reads: “You are cordially invited to the biggest event of the seasonal decade. On October 16 at noon EDT, we’ll be celebrating all things blocky with an epic livestream still known as Minecraft Live! You can watch the show from the comfort of your home at Minecraft.net/live or on our YouTube channel.

The guest list includes new and familiar faces from Mojang Studios, our amazing community and a few surprising performances. On the menu you’ll find in-depth interviews, exciting reveals, a nail-biting voice and puns galore! Instead of gifts, please send positive vibes so that the power doesn’t go out.

“If you lose your invite, you can keep an eye on Minecraft.net/live, where more information will be added as we approach October 16.”
