Call of Duty Cold War 1.23 Update News
With so much to do this week in the world of Call of Duty, it’s easy to forget that Black Ops Cold War Season 5 Reloaded is coming soon.
But COD gamers have been warned that big changes are coming this week to the Black Ops universe, including new modes, maps and weapons to try out.
But while both Cold War and Warzone are being updated, that doesn’t mean a new Battle Pass is coming.
The Season 5 Battle Pass continues and Activision is launching a new wave of content via a Reloaded patch.
But while it’s a smaller mid-season update, there’s still plenty to look forward to on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
The first thing to note is that the first patch for Season 5 Reloaded will arrive in the United States later today and in the UK tomorrow.
The official Call of Duty Cold War Season 5 update time is set for September 8 at 5am BST.
This will be when you can download the new patch that contains all the things needed for season 5.
However, the Season 5 release date is unified with Call of Duty Warzone, meaning gamers will have to wait until September 9 before they can play Season 5 Reloaded.
A statement from Activision explains: “Officially launching next Thursday following updates to Black Ops Cold War on September 7 at 9pm PT and Warzone on September 8 at 9pm PT, Season Five Reloaded will introduce a variety of free content in Multiplayer and Zombies , with The Numbers Event delivering content for both games later in the season.
“From a revamped Warzone Rumble, known as Clash, to a new functional Melee weapon, the battle rages on in the 1980s as we prepare for the upcoming sixth season in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
“Meanwhile in the Store, a well-known Operator of Black Ops veterans returns to bolster NATO forces, while the Warsaw Pact receives a new bundle to help them enact the law.”
The new Cold War Season 5 patch will be available for download on PS4 consoles ahead of tonight’s release, but it should be noted that it won’t give early access to anything planned.
What it does mean is that you can avoid queues and get everything ready to install without waiting.
And for a quick look at what’s coming next to the Cold War, check out these early patch notes, courtesy of Treyarch:
NEW MODE – After a hiatus from Modern Warfare season three in 2020, Demolition is back for Black Ops Cold War.
First introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare™ 2 (2009), this game mode resembles a respawn-enabled enhanced Search and Destroy. In Demolition, a team of attackers tries to destroy a few bombs, while defenders have to prevent the blasts.
Total chaos ensues when time is extended after the first bomb site is destroyed, giving both teams a chance to play offensively and defensively before the match ends. If there’s a tie, expect even more madness: a single neutral bomb site becomes active, with the first team to detonate it wins the match.
ZOMBIE OUTBREAK – In the Outbreak Zones, Requiem reports the presence of a new chest type in addition to the usual small, medium, large and gold variants: the mysterious Black Chest.
Like previous world events found in the regions, the exact details of this event must be discovered by Requiem agents. Once they do, they may find that the reward far outweighs the risk…
ZOMBIES RAMPAGE – Operators returning to round-based experiences to complete those season five challenges will also find a new feature to ramp up the action from the get-go: the Rampage Inducer.
The Rampage Inducer, which appears as an orange Essence bus in the starting area, will temporarily increase the difficulty to Cranked level proportions if all members of a squad agree to take the challenge. Once activated, this bus will speed up zombies spawn speed and cause all zombies to sprint endlessly until round 20, ramping up the action until the second big round milestone is reached… or a total squad sweep long before that.
