Vanguard beta release date and launch time news
The beta version of Call of Duty Vanguard looks set to be the first big test for developers Sledgehammer Games.
Not only will the team be looking at keeping servers online, but they’ll be chasing bugs and glitches all weekend.
The downside is that many gamers will miss the first Vanguard beta, as it’s not an open beta affair.
This means you’ll need to pre-order the game for a chance to play on PS4 and PS5 this weekend.
The other major drawback is that no one who has an Xbox or PC gaming device can join.
This weekend’s promotion is exclusive to PlayStation consoles, meaning only a small portion of the COD community can get in on the promotion today.
The good news is that while the Call of Duty Vanguard beta will be limited, there will be two more events, one of which will be an open beta for all platforms.
WHAT TIME DOES THE CALL OF DUTY VANGUARD BETA START?
Activision has confirmed that the first Call of Duty Vanguard beta will launch on PS4 and PS5 consoles on Friday, September 10 at around 6pm BST.
In total, the Vanguard beta will be held over two weekends: from Friday, September 10 to Monday, September 13, and from Thursday, September 16 to Monday, September 20.
The first weekend – September 10-13 – is for PlayStation owners who have pre-ordered the game.
The second weekend is considered a full open beta for PlayStation owners.
Those on other platforms will need to pre-order the game to get access to the first two days of beta (September 16 & 17), before it becomes an open beta for all platforms from Saturday, September 18 to Monday, September 20 at 10am PT .
So for anyone wondering, the Call of Duty Vanguard open beta kicks off September 18 at 6pm BST on Xbox One and PC.
The Vanguard beta schedule is as follows:
- PlayStation Exclusive Early Access: September 10 – 13
- Xbox and Battle.net PC Early Access / PlayStation Open Beta: September 16 – 17
- Open beta on all platforms: September 18 – 20
And it should be noted that the Call of Duty Vanguard beta also offers bonuses to those gamers who enjoy COD Mobile.
An Activision message reveals: “Sergeant Arthur Kingsley of the 9th Parachute Battalion is coming to Call of Duty: Mobile, one of the main protagonists in Call of Duty: Vanguard. As the leader of Task Force One, the Special Forces group central to Vanguard’s epic campaign, Kingsley is just the kind of operator you need in the field.
“For his courageous actions during Operation Tonga, Kingsley has been appointed leader of Task Force One, the Special Forces group central to Call of Duty: Vanguard’s epic campaign.
“Unlock Kingsley for use in Call of Duty: Mobile by playing the Vanguard beta, giving you an early introduction to the Special Forces leader ahead of Vanguard’s launch on November 5.”
