The Trials of Osiris are back today, but Bungie has warned that things will turn out differently than in the past.

After the activity was removed from the weekly rotation during the start of Destiny 2 Season 15, this marks the first time Guardians will be able to dive back into the action.

An important thing to note is that the weekly challenges with three, five and seven wins have been replaced with a new challenge for winning rounds.

However, Bungie has also confirmed that a new seven win challenge will be available starting from Saint-14.

Guardians will also note that reputation gain per match has been scaled to the number of round wins on a ticket and Trials passages now have account scope meaning buying the same ticket on a different character will not reset ticket wins.

Bungie says these changes will help Trials of Osiris unlock more rewards for each player, even if you don’t win full matches.

Trials Reputation unlocks Trials engrams and other rewards through Saint-14 during a given season.

And with plenty of Trials of Osiris rewards slated to go live today, here’s what Bungie has confirmed will be underneath, telling gamers ahead of launch:

“This season, Trials brings a new Legendary Linear Fusion Rifle to Destiny’s loot table. Introducing Reed’s Regret, pack some Stasis damage and the ability to create fun perk combos such as Triple Tap and Vorpal Weapon.

“Combined with the Particle Deconstruction Artifact Mod, this is a weapon you don’t want to miss.

“Saint-14 has revamped its vendor inventory, giving Guardians the ability to target additional roles on loot they previously acquired. This can be compared to focusing engrams at the Umbral Decoder in the HELM. Get out there, earn some engrams, and get to work.”

The Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris rewards will be back on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 6:00 PM BST.

We don’t know if Bungie will announce what new loot is available, but chances are we’ll have to wait for Guardians to find out what’s available.

This may take less time than usual as rewards are more accessible and not tied to total winnings as in the past.

Here are some of the other changes added to the Trials ahead of this week’s big launch:

Changes made to rule sets:

  • Trials of Osiris lap time reduced to 90 seconds.
  • Trials of Osiris — Each round starts with fresh special ammunition.
  • Cross Play must be enabled to participate in Trials of Osiris.
  • Added tooltip with limited third person camera and loading screen hint to Trials, Elimination and Showdown.
  • Trials of Osiris now requires the purchase of the current annual extension.
  • At this point, Beyond Light is required to play.
  • Starting February 22, 2022, The Witch Queen will be required.

More changes may be announced when the Trials go live later today, and there’s no word on whether new maps will be added or a change in rotation.
