Life is Strange: True Colors is the latest popular case of review bombing, such as Eurogamer reported. The new series offshoot actually got good reviews, at Open Criticism currently has an average of 81 points in the books.

Also on Steam there were mostly positive reviews from users. But it’s been on Steam for a little while now bad reviews and almost all of them are written in Chinese. The reason for this is a Tibetan flag in the game.

“Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Tibet have been Chinese territory since ancient times. […] You will return to the mainland at some point,” writes a Users. “The game contains elements of Tibetan independence, which implies a split in China,” assesses another, translated by the gamer.

Currently the positive opinions dominate on Steam however still. It is not the first time that Chinese players have expressed their displeasure with negative reviews. The horror game Devotion from Taiwanese developer Red Candle Games has encountered all sorts of headwinds because it featured a controversial report by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Life is Strange: True Colors is available now for PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam. The game will also be released for Nintendo Switch later this year. The “Wavelengths” DLC featuring Steph will follow on September 30 and is already included in the digital Deluxe Edition and the digital Ultimate Edition of True Colors.
