The Fortnite Season 8 countdown has begun
The new Fortnite season has arrived as update version 18.00 reaches the servers.
Fortnite Season 8 officially starts at 10 a.m. UK time, although you’ll need to download and install the update at 6 p.m. to start playing right away.
The new Fortnite season will bring a slew of changes to the game, including the addition of a brand new Battle Pass.
The main new Battle Pass rewards are the new selection of unlockable skins, starting with Charlotte.
With a sword possessed, Charlotte is described as a “transforming, monster-killing teenager”.
Other Fortnite Season 8 Battle Pass skins include Torin, JB Chimpanski, Kor, and Fabio Sparklemane.
There is also a new cartoon skin as Toona Fish joins Fortnite in Season 8. The Fortnite Season 8 level 100 skin is Carnage from the Spider-Man universe.
This season’s secret skin has yet to be revealed, although it appears to be an original design, not another guest skin.
You can see the Fortnite Season 8 Battle Pass trailer further down the page.
“The Cube is back, but now there are… more of them,” reads the official description. From the smoldering wreckage of The Mothership arises a new threat.
Cubes wake up, spreading the corruption and creating rifts with “The Sideways”.
“Enter the Sideways to collect monsters and find Sideways weapons. Join the community effort to build defenses against the Cubes. It’s up to you – all of you – to fight for the survival of the island.”
The other big change in Fortnite Season 8 is the appearance of cubes all over the map.
The addition of the cubes coincides with the release of The Sideways, an alternate dimension full of monsters.
When The Sideways is activated, players are pushed into another dimension where they must fight against monsters.
On the plus side, defeating monsters and entering The Sideways gives players access to new rewards.
Unfortunately, there don’t seem to be any significant map changes, although the island is expected to evolve as the season progresses.
