The good news for everyone this weekend is that the Call of Duty Vanguard open beta begins on all platforms.

That means if you play on PlayStation, Xbox or PC platforms, you can download and join the multiplayer action.

For those who may have missed the announcement, Call of Duty Vanguard is the next COD game slated to launch.

It will arrive later in 2021 and will be focused around WW2, including the most famous theaters of war.

This week developers Sledgehammer Games will release the Call of Duty Vanguard beta, a version of the game that is still under testing.

Gamers on PlayStation platforms will be able to join first through the open beta route, alongside Xbox and PC pre-order customers.

And after this initial period ends, Call of Duty Vanguard’s full open beta begins, complete with full access for everyone.

According to Sledgehammer Games, all core content from the first closed beta will be included.

This means the Champion Hill experience and Patrol, Team Deathmatch, Domination and Kill Confirmed on Hotel Royal, Red Star and Gavutu.

In week two, Sledgehammer adds new stuff, including Search & Destroy and the Eagle’s Nest map, which can be played in all five core modes.

WHAT IS THE VANGUARD OPEN BTA ISSUE DATE?

The Call of Duty Vanguard open beta starts on Thursday, September 16, 2021 on PS4 and PS5.

Gamers on Xbox and PC platforms who have pre-ordered the game will also be able to log in on this day.

The open beta start time has been set at 6:00 PM BST and will run until September 20, 2021.

The remainder of Vanguard’s beta period — which is expected to last from Saturday, September 18 at 10 a.m. PT to Monday, September 20 at 10 a.m. PT — will be open to all players on all platforms.

No pre-order is required for this Open Beta period. In addition, Xbox Live Gold is not required for Xbox Series X and S and Xbox One owners for this part of the beta.

As the name suggests, crossplay will be active during the second weekend of the beta, so you can play with friends as long as you have each other’s Activision IDs to party across platforms.

Two more playlists will become available at the beginning of this open beta period on September 18: a Solos version of Champion Hill and a 24/7 Team Deathmatch playlist on Royal Hotel and Eagle’s Nest with Combat Pacing set to Blitz.

It’s a bit complicated, but the best part is that anyone can join on September 18 and play until September 20.

Those who participate in the beta and reach level 20 will receive two rewards:

  • A weapon blueprint for Call of Duty Vanguard and Warzone, available in Vanguard after the game launches on November 5 and in Warzone when the new main map launches later this year.
  • An Arthur Kingsley operator in Call of Duty: Mobile, available shortly after the end of the beta.
