The release date of Call of Duty Season 6 in Black Ops Cold War will be the last big hurray for the launch of COD Vanguard.

It means more content is promoted for Cold War than Call of Duty Warzone, which makes a lot of sense.

While Warzone remains a massive game running alongside Vanguard, the Cold War is expected to fade more into the background, as it did with Modern Warfare before it.

And developers Treyarch have already started sharing their plans for Cold War Season 6, including the new Zombies map.

Forsaken is the name of the new map, which will make its debut on Thursday, October 7, the official launch date for Season 6.

As usual, Call of Duty Cold War is expected to be updated 24 hours in advance, followed by the release of all new content.

Like all post-Cold War Zombies experiences, this new round-based map will be available for free and will conclude the opening chapter of the Dark Aether story.

The first teaser information shared regarding Zombies Season 6 is that the new map is set in Ukraine, and Treyarch is confirming to fans today:

“As fans learned in the latest Intel during season five, the director of Requiem has plans for Samantha Maxis, using unorthodox methods to help her understand the powers she developed during her time in the Dark Aether.

Requiem and Omega have embarked on rival operations to retrieve Sergeant Kazimir Zykov from the Dark Aether, believing that this “lost Russian” – the Soviet soldier who closed the portal at Projekt Endstation – will be the key to preventing a destructive force enters our world .

And now Omega defector Sergei Ravenov has given Requiem information about a massive new Aetherial portal being built in western Ukraine.

“Now that Agent Maxis understands the path ahead — and her own role in determining the fate of our dimension — the stakes couldn’t be greater.”

The big news will be shared by Tryarch later this week when the first Call of Duty Season 6 gameplay trailer is released.

This is expected to be followed by details of what’s planned for Warzone, with developers Raven Software remaining muted on social media for now.

But with Warzone’s next major content expansion tied to the launch of Call of Duty Vanguard, November looks like the month Battle Royale will once again dominate proceedings.
