DayZ update 1.14 is the biggest of the year for PS4, Xbox and PC

Patch notes released today for DayZ update 1.14 confirm all major changes made to the game.

Developers Bohemia Interactive also shared a full rundown of what they think will have the biggest impact, and to highlight this, they offered a little bit at the end.

Without offering much fanfare, the DayZ team confirmed that the game will now run at 60fps on PS5 consoles.

But as pointed out, this is just a minor change noted among several other gameplay features.

The most prominent new feature added to the DayZ world is infected areas. These are new environmental threats that can hide the best loot in the game and require things like gas masks to get in.

A message from Bohemia explains: “These areas come in two varieties: static and dynamic. Static areas are meant to lock up high-level loot, while dynamic areas make the world more dynamic.

“We’ve worked hard to make your experience as immersive as possible through various visual/sound effects. These spaces will finally also make use of pre-existing NBC gear such as suits and gas masks. Should anyone enter these areas unprepared, they will face the deadliest disease we have ever implemented.”

Other notable features are listed below and include the following:

hunting traps have been added to the game and now come in a few different forms. These include the larger fishing net trap, a small fish bottle trap and a snare trap. Each trap can catch its own unique animal based on where the trap is placed and the type of bait used.

There is also the human tripwire that will no doubt cause serious mischief.

Helicopter Crash Locations have been upgraded with new models and smoke particles, which are now visible from a greater distance. Each helicopter crash site now makes a sound that can be heard from afar.

New animations have also been added, with Bohemia focusing on the bullpup guns. The LE-MAS assault rifle can also be found in the game after update 1.14, with the exotic rifle with 5.56x45mm ammunition in its 25-round magazine, with single, burst and auto fire options available.

  • The player cannot close the fireplace inventory after opening it with something in it

  • Splitting an item may cause a game crash

  • Deleting the last attachment of a fireplace will delete this item

  • Combining matches would leave an empty box on the floor
