Sony Japan Studios was subject to “restructurings” at the beginning of the year, which simply prevented many industry giants’ contracts from renewing. These include Teruyuki Toriyama, Kazunobu Sato, Junyu Okura and Keiichiro Toyama. The last three have already started their own company with Bokeh Game Studio and are working on a horror game there.
Masaaki Yamagiwa, producer of Bloodborne, Déraciné and Tokyo Jungle, was among the well-known developers who had to take their hats off. But he is now back in a renowned studio, as we learn very casually from Shuhei Yoshida these days.
He apparently met Yamagiwa and Fumihiko Yasuda (also Team Ninja) and shared a photo of them on Twitter. He wrote that Yamagiwa was now employed by Team Ninja.
Team Ninja is known for the series Dead or Alive or Ninja Gaiden. And yes, recently for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. Nioh has also made a name for himself in recent years. Fresh Nioh could be a new project for Yamagiwa, or guess what?
