Genshin Impact maintenance scheduled for this week means servers will be down for several hours as Mihoyo prepares to release another major update.

Genshin 2.2 will be the patch rolling out in October that will add new locations, character banners, and weapon events.

Tsurumi Island will be the last to be added to the Inazuma region and billed as the most difficult for explorers to conquer, with dense fog a solid deterrent to outsiders.

Genshin fans will have to find their own way in, as the low visibility makes it difficult to navigate the new locations and sights.

A message from Mihoyo adds: “New monstrous beasts also lurk in the gloomy mist. The Rifthounds and the Rifthound Whelps are stealthy monsters from the Abyss that can become invisible and prowl around for the best chance of launching an attack.” engage in a fight.

Both the Rifthounds and the Rifthound Whelps have Electro or Geo attributes. But what makes this species really dangerous is their ability to apply Corrosion status to enemies.

“When an attack hits a character, all party members are affected by the Corrosion status and they continuously lose HP regardless of whether they are shielded or not. So watch out for the dogs.”

Developers Mihoyo have confirmed that Genshin Impact Maintenance will begin on October 12 at 11pm BST and will last a total of five hours if everything goes according to plan.

Delays are always possible and the company is known for adding more Primogems to the overall bounty if gamers have to wait longer than they were told until the end of maintenance.

The release date of Genshin Impact 2.2 is set for October 13 at 4:00 AM BST, across all platforms.

For gamers in North America, the same patch will go live at 8pm PDT on PS4, PS5, PC and mobile devices.

A post from Mihoyo adds: “To ensure that all Travelers have the best possible Genshin Impact experience, our developers will start performing update maintenance soon. After this is completed, the game will be updated to a new version.

“After Travelers installs the new game client, they can continue playing. Due to the large file size, it is recommended to install the update over a Wi-Fi connection.

“While update maintenance is underway, travelers will not be able to log into the game. Keep in mind the update time and schedule your game time accordingly to avoid losing your progress. We hope Travelers will be patient with us during the disruption.”

The current maintenance fee is set at 300 Primogems, but there will be 60 Primogems for every hour the servers are unavailable.

The new four-star character Thoma will be available after maintenance is complete, with Mihoyo giving this early description:

Known as the “fixer” in Inazuma, Thoma is also a reliable teammate in combat, with strong defense and buffs.

“Thoma swings a pole and holds a Pyro Vision. His Blazing Blessing elemental ability can deal AoE Pyro damage, apply Pyro to himself, and summon a defending Blazing Barrier. When the Blazing Barrier is active, the amount of Damage absorption needed can stack when another Blazing Barrier is acquired, also renewing its duration.

“With his Elemental Burst “Crimson Ooyoroi”, Thoma can help his teammates deal extra Pyro damage to enemies. He even has a special talent that gives successful fishing attempts in Inazuma a 20% chance of scoring a double catch.”
