The ResetEra gaming forum has been bought by the Swedish MOBA network for $4.55 million, as the participants today known gifts. Let someone say that classic forums are out of fashion these days.

Well-funded networks should read along: the JPGAMES forum is happy to change hands for 2 million less. MOBA may not be interested in that. The network already maintains some game portals on specific topics, such as Mobafire.com, Dotafire.com or Smitefire.com.

“ResetEra.com’s revenue is generated through advertising and membership subscriptions,” according to MOBA’s announcement. They see great opportunities here to increase advertising revenue through a larger share of direct sales and the implementation of new formats.

ResetEra was founded in 2017 after much of the NeoGAF forum wanted to refocus, whose owner was accused of sexual misconduct. Since then, ResetEra has developed rapidly and is recognized internationally as one of the largest gaming forums, as well as a resource and mood barometer.

According to ResetEra there were several potential buyers, but MOBA was the best partner. MOBA wants to “stay in the background and only take care of business and logistics matters”. The employees of ResetEra also retained their independence.
