Ghost hunters can adapt and power up for their latest adventures after the Phasmophobia Halloween update was confirmed to be rolling out today.

Now live on Steam, gamers can jump back into the world of ghost hunting and explore all the new content before the creepy, real celebrations begin.

Today’s Halloween patch, called the Nightmare update, adds new Ghosts to the game, as well as a new map to explore.

A message from the Phasmophobia team teases today: “We’ve had reports of paranormal activity near an old campground. We want you to investigate the cause of these ghostly sightings as soon as possible.

“New paranormal entities are also beginning to reveal themselves in various haunted locations.

“Be careful out there. The weather has gotten a lot more intense lately and it could hinder your investigations.”

Fans of the horror game are most interested in the new encounters and map that can be played after installing the Nightmare update.

And according to the official patch notes, there are plenty of new entities to hunt this week.

The good news is that all of these new ghost types have a higher chance of spawning for the duration of the Halloween event and currently contain the following entities:

  • Onryo
  • The Twins
  • obake
  • Raiju

Meanwhile, all these new ghosts can be found around the Maple Lodge Campsite; a brand new medium map with picnic areas, games, multiple tents, a log cabin and a haunted lake.

Maple Lodge Campsite contains more unique objects, higher object density and more visual details.

The Phasmophobia team plans to add a more diverse array of objects and details to other maps in the future and started camping in October.

In the future, other locations will be redesigned with a truck mini map to be consistent with Maple Lodge Campsite
