Vanguard Zombies: Is there Call of Duty Split Screen and can I pause?

Call of Duty Vanguard is now available to play and includes a WW2 campaign, multiplayer and zombies mode.

The Vanguard Zombies experience was a surprising addition as it differs from others added to non-Treyarch games.

While plenty of Zombies modes have been added to games not made by Treyarch, this is the first one developed by the team for another COD game.

Vanguard Zombies is a continuation of the storyline that started in Black Ops Cold War and serves as a prequel to those events.

A message from Treyarch explains this process, telling fans: “Vanguard Zombies reveals that entities from the Dark Aether dimension interacted with humans eons back. We’ll get a better sense of what happened in the Dark Aether before the events at Projekt Endstation changed everything.

“In fact, the cyclotron incident at Endstation is what sparked the events in Vanguard Zombies. The dimensional rift activates long-dormant artifacts collected by the Nazis, giving SS Commander Wolfram Von List a chance to bond with a lord of the Dark Aether and single-handedly win World War II for the Third Reich.

“Only a small group of Allied Special Forces soldiers who have forged a similar bond with their own Dark Aether entities stands in his way. So we have new characters in a different setting than in Black Ops Cold War Zombies, but with the same level of high stakes with global implications.

“Our main villain is Oberführer Von List, commander of the SS battalion Die Wahrheit. His soldiers have plundered the world in search of mystical artifacts, and their search has paid off with an artifact that has symbiotically linked Von List to a former lord of the Dark Aether, Kortifex the Deathless. Kortifex shares his power to resuscitate the dead, and now the world is in danger of being overrun by an army of Nazi zombies.

So with those basics out of the way, COD fans will also want to know if Vanguard Zombies includes couch co-op and what other features are included.

ZOMBIE SPLIT SCREEN?

From what has been shared so far, there is currently no way to play Call of Duty Vanguard Zombies in Split-Screen.

This means you can’t add another controller and mow down the undead with a friend via couch co-op.

You can use this option in Call of Duty Vanguard Multiplayer, meaning there’s a good chance it will arrive in Zombies at a later date.

Developers Treyarch has also confirmed that there is no way to pause a live zombies match in Vanguard.

The good news is that the feature is coming to the game in the future, and Treyarch confirms this week:

“All Vanguard Zombies lobbies (public, private and solo) will run on dedicated servers from launch for the smoothest experience!

“This will also result in shorter kick times for inactive players as we work on adding Server Pause as a post-launch feature, so be sure to open the options menu to extend the timer if you need a quick bio-pause . Don’t forget to stay active there!”
