Nintendo Switch consoles will likely be in short supply this Christmas.

Like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch production has been hit by a lack of essential components.

And sadly, it looks like the Nintendo Switch’s production issues will continue beyond the end of the year.

So says Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, who said the company will struggle to meet demand.

“We cannot produce enough to meet the demand we expect during the upcoming holiday season,” explains Furukawa.

“At the moment there is no sign of improvement and the situation remains serious, so I cannot say how long it will last.”

If you’re looking to buy a Switch console for a loved one this holiday season, it’s worth buying sooner or later.

There are currently three options to choose from if you want a Nintendo Switch.

There is the original version, the handheld only Switch Lite and the newly released Nintendo Switch OLED model.

As the name suggests, the main new feature is the OLED display, which has more vibrant colors.

It also has a higher contrast compared to the current Switch and Switch Lite models.

While the console is similar in size to the current model, fans will benefit from a larger 7-inch screen.

Other useful new features include a wired LAN port, improved audio and a slick new color scheme.

The console launched alongside the 2D platform sequel Metroid Dread, a direct sequel to Metroid Fusion.

On a remote alien planet, a mechanical threat awaits that will push even the galaxy’s greatest bounty hunter to the limit. Join Samus Aran on her deadliest 2D adventure yet in Metroid Dread on Nintendo Switch.

To complete Samus’ mission, you will navigate your way through the depths of a vast planet filled with unique environments, dangerous danger and mysterious secrets. Use new and familiar skills to traverse these labyrinths, consult the map to find your way and send enemy enemies in your path using powerful weapons.

As you freely explore the planet, you’ll come across locked doors, out-of-reach ledges, and areas too dangerous for Samus to safely enter. By acquiring power-ups and upgrades, you’ll not only overcome these obstacles, but you’ll also discover new paths and shortcuts through the environment.”
