Sony is expanding its PlayStation Direct business so console hunters in the UK will soon be able to buy PS5 shares directly from them.
PS Direct has been available in the United States for some time and has proved popular with gamers trying to avoid resellers.
As usual, Sony only has a certain number of consoles for sale, meaning restock events sell out quickly.
So far, PlayStation Direct has expanded to Germany and Sony has confirmed that more European cities will be added soon.
The UK is on the list, and Sony tells gamers today: “PlayStation’s online store is expanding into Europe!
“Starting today with the official launch in Germany, with the UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg launch coming soon. Stay tuned for more details on the UK launch.”
As the information above suggests, we don’t have a set time for when PlayStation Direct UK will launch.
However, the timing allows for the new service to go live before the busy December holiday season.
PlayStation Direct is not part of the digital PlayStation Store front, but is a place where fans can purchase hardware and other merchandise.
To purchase a PS5 console from PlayStation Direct, you must have a PSN account and be logged in to direct.playstation.com.
It should also be noted that due to high demand, PS5 consoles are limited to one per household.
Sometimes Sony releases PlayStation 5 shares via email invitations, making buying a console easier.
And they also launch consoles to the general public with an active PSN account.
This second way is a lot like all other shopping experiences, where every PS5 replenishment puts you in a queue and usually ends up unsuccessfully.
PlayStation Direct is coming to the UK
But having another way to buy a console will still be a huge boost for those gamers hoping to upgrade to a PS5 before the end of the year.
The good news is that a new PS5 addition has been confirmed for the UK this week, following a flurry of activity in the first week of November.
Now that the first releases are over, a new report suggests Argos will be launching one of the next big restocks of the month.
A new PlayStation 5 shipment is expected to arrive later this week and will come with a few restrictions.
This includes Argos providing only PS5 stock for disc edition, and no digital variants are expected.
The new Argos drop is expected to take place between Tuesday, November 9 and Thursday, November 11, 2021.
The good news is that more details will be revealed before the PS5 replenishment kicks off, giving gamers more time to prepare.
