Developers Sledgehammer Games released a new Call of Duty Vanguard update today, but haven’t released a solid list of patch notes.

It’s unclear why, though the team pointed out that some changes will be found on the game’s Trello board.

Hopefully in the future more news will be shared in the usual way when a new Call of Duty update is launched, as with Warzone and Cold War.

For now, we know that the Combat Shield now offers more protection when stowed, a bug that has left some gamers confused about the weapon’s effectiveness.

A post from Sledgehammer Games outlines what they’re working on for future patches, telling fans this week:

“Players can expect general performance improvements, fixes to some spawn bugs, weapon progression bugs and Combat Shields will now protect when put away.

“We would like to thank all our players for the feedback we have received over the past week. While we’re not in the latest update, we’re investigating spawn issues on Dome, more progress progression bugs, playlist queuing issues, infinite armor, and much more.

“For an overview of the major changes made in today’s update and to see the issues we’re tracking, please visit the Vanguard Community Trello board.

“This is not a complete list of everything we are working on, just the issues that seem to affect our players the most and we will continue to update.”

Other changes noted by the team on Trello include the following items:

  • Trade-offs on barrels, magazines and stocks have been reduced.
  • Hipfire’s distribution has been tweaked on most weapons (mainly to add more consistency between weapon categories).
  • The effective range of most shotguns, SMGs and pistols has been reduced (SMGs and pistols performed better at range and shotguns were lowered due to increased lethality in general).
  • Certain weapons are no longer accessible in the gear/gunsmith after level 66.
  • 1911 Pistol now goes beyond level 50.

  • Operator challenges seem to reset after they are completed.
  • Unlock requirement for weapon challenges that display incorrectly.
  • Legendary Covenants: Some players do not receive Legendary Covenant options.

More updates and changes are expected in the lead up to the launch of Vanguard Season One, an event that will add a new Battle Pass to the game and other content.

It will have a big effect on Call of Duty Warzone, which will integrate with Vanguard on December 2 and launch a new map and anti-cheat protection.

Here’s the current roadmap leading up to the launch of the new Call of Duty season:

Nov 5 to Dec 2: Preseason in Vanguard – Access to free Vanguard Tiers on the Black Ops Cold War Season Six Battle Pass system will remain. Then, on November 17, get ready to head over to a fan-favorite map.
