Blizzard is preparing something new for WoW Classic this week with the Season of Mastery release date.
Unlike in the past when new stages usher in new content, this week’s World of Warcraft TBC update will allow players to start fresh on a level playing field, allowing new and current classic players to start over at level 1 for a complete reset of WoW Classic content.
This ties into the launch of WoW Classic Realms, much of the Season of Mastery, where these realms will invite new and current Classic players to start fresh at Level 1 for a full reset of the WoW Classic content, again starting at the very last minute. beginning of the World of Warcraft saga.
Phases of content will still be released as Blizzard plans to launch everything at a faster pace, starting with Molten Core, Onyxia, Maraudon and the PvP Honor system and Battlegrounds.
This will be available during the WoW Classic Season or Mastery Launch and will be followed by five other phases of content, ending with the release of Naxxramas and the Scourge Invasion.
And because Blizzard is launching content faster this time around, they’ve also confirmed that there will be faster leveling and other improvements that weren’t in the original WoW Classic release.
WHEN DOES MASTERY’S WOW SEASON START?
Blizzard has confirmed that the WoW Classic Season of Mastery release date is slated for Tuesday, November 16 in North America.
Due to the way server deployments are done, there will be a slight difference for those playing on European servers.
The WoW Classic Season of Mastery release time has been set for Tuesday at 3pm PDT, which equates to 11pm GMT and 12pm on November 17 for players in the rest of Europe.
After WoW Classic Season of Mastery goes live, you can create additional characters up to a maximum of 50 characters in each of the three games:
Up to 50 total characters in World of Warcraft Classic (including Season of Mastery)
Up to 50 characters in Burning Crusade Classic
Up to 50 characters in World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.
WoW Classic Season of Mastery
Please note, however, that characters created for the WoW Classic Season or Mastery Open Beta are not available for use in WoW Classic Season or Mastery.
A message from Blizzard explains: “The original release of WoW Classic was created to recreate the difficulty and challenge of patch 1.12 of the original World of Warcraft release.
“As we strived to bring a faithful re-creation of that release, many raid encounters proved easier than the first time – players were simply more experienced and prepared, and patch updates significantly increased player power.
With that in mind, we’re planning a few changes to give those early raid bosses a little more power and try to recapture the original challenge they offered.
“These changes currently include (but are not limited to): World buffs (such as Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer and others) disabled in Raid instances, Restored mechanics that were previously removed for some Raid bosses, No boss debuff limit (from 16 debuffs in WoW Classic), and Increased boss health, to compensate for player buffs and the removed debuff limit.
