Argos and GAME face competition from new PS5 online store
It’s been a year since the PS5 first launched and Sony’s latest PlayStation console is still hard to come by. There have been numerous occasions where PS5 additions have been picked up in a flash, but during the ongoing stock shortage, there were two clear shining stars: GAME and Argos. Both GAME and Argos have regularly received new stocks in 2021 that outlast their ilk, with many people taking to sites like Twitter in the wake of the stock drops and expressing their joy at finally packing a PS5 console.
While GAME and Argos have long reigned supreme on the PlayStation 5 stock front, they have a new contender that could become the go-to place for PS5 orders.
That’s PlayStation Direct, which launched in Europe last week – after gamers in the US have enjoyed the service for a long time – and early this week the PlayStation Direct website took orders for the PS5 in the UK for the first time. The restock went live around 10am UK time on Monday with both the PlayStation 5 Disc and the digital consoles on sale for £449.99 and £359.99 respectively. A queue was launched for those wishing to purchase a PlayStation 5 with PlayStation Direct, with thousands of people queuing up to purchase the much sought-after console.
This is certainly the first of many PlayStation Direct PS5 additions on the horizon, and if you’re hoping to buy a PS5 from this Sony website, there are a few things you should know.
First, due to high demand, there is a limit of one order per customer.
To purchase an item from PlayStation Direct, you must also be signed in with your PlayStation account.
If you have a PS Plus membership, you are also eligible for free standard shipping.
The first-ever PlayStation Direct UK stock drop came at the start of the week, with both GAME and Argos once again able to open orders for the PS5.
According to the ever-trustworthy @PS5StockAlertUK stock tracker account, a “huge” PS5 replenishment at Argos could go live between November 18 and 19.
The well-known PS5 stock source tweeted: “PlayStation 5 (Argos) Exclusive News.
“A huge #PS5 drop is expected by Argos around November 18-19. Multiple shipments have been received, both Disc and Digital Editions, making it Argos’ biggest PS5 drop since launch. In-store & online.”
Elsewhere, a GAME PS5 restock could also go live between November 16 and 19.
On Friday, the PS5 stock tracker posted: “PlayStation 5 (GAME) News
“The release date of PS5 consoles has been updated to 25/11, indicating a stock drop sometime next week. We’ll let you know once we find the priority order delivery date, giving us a better indication of what the drop day will be.” could be.”
