Geoff Keighley has presented the nominees for The Game Awards 2021. From now fans can vote for their favorite gameswhich will be featured on the show on December 9, along with plenty of news and revelations.
Deathloop, It Takes Two, Metroid Dread, Psychonaut 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Resident Evil Village have been nominated for the coveted “Game of the Year” award. Some of the other top rated games according to OpenCritic are of course missing because not all of them can be nominated. Including Forza Horizon 5, Monster Hunter Rise of Tales of Arise.
Cyberpunk 2077 nominated in two categories
Even Cyberpunk 2077 has a chance to win a prize, that may surprise some. The CD-Projekt-RED-Game was a sensational launch in many ways and has a chance to become the “Best RPG” and the game with the “Best Score and Music”.
Cyberpunk 2077 invariably fights with Japanese competitors in this category: Monster Hunter Rise, Scarlet Nexus, Shin Megami Tensei V and Tales of Arise are still options.
Many Japanese nominations
Some Japanese nominations: NieR Replicant is nominated for “Best Score and Music”. Final Fantasy XIV again as “Best Running” game. Fantasian of Hironobu Sakaguchi has the chance to become “Best Mobile Game”. Metroid Dread can hope to become “Best Action / Adventure” in addition to “Game of the Year”.
The “Dear Family” category is, of course, dominated by Nintendo. The infamous award for “Best Debut Indie” could go to Kena: Bridge of Spirits of Sable. And which game are you most looking forward to? Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Starfield or the sequel to Zelda: Breath of the Wild? Sonorous names.
