Hideo Kojima’s love of movies is no secret and can be found often enough in his video games. According to his Twitter profile, 70% of his body is made up of movies. Now he is getting a little closer to his great passion.
As Kojima Productions announces, it will expand to movies, TV and music. A new office in Los Angeles has been set up for this purpose.
The new division will be led by former PlayStation CEO Riley Russell, who will work to bring the Kojima Productions brands into pop culture franchises. In other words, video game series should become multimedia franchises.
Opposite to GamesIndustry Russell explains that this includes franchises that are “currently in development at Kojima Productions”. It is currently unknown which game Kojima Productions is working on. In any case, with the release of the Director’s Cut, the work on Death Stranding is complete.
Over the summer, there were media reports that Kojima had already held talks with Norman Reedus about a Death Stranding sequel. It wasn’t until October that news of a Silent Hill to be made at Kojima Productions started to shake. Both messages have so far not been confirmed.
