Sony has made another change to one of its previous free PlayStation Plus games for 2021.
The surprise upgrade was announced earlier this week and means subscribers who have collected the most recent releases can make sure they don’t miss out on any special updates.
Oddworld: Soulstorm launched in April as part of PS Plus and continues the ten-year-old story of Abe and his enslaved Mudokons.
In the game mechanics, you play the leader of the rebellion as you recruit followers to your cause and solve puzzles with stealth and numbers on your side.
Soulstorm combines action-adventure platformer gameplay with a story of a society on the brink of revolution, where your moment-to-moment in-game choices will influence the outcome, and there’s more than one possible ending to experience.
When the game originally launched in 2021, it came with lots of Mudokons to save, but issues with bugs and AI.
Improvements have been made since then and the best part is that a full Enhanced Edition of the game will be out on PS4 and PS5 on November 30th.
New content will also be added to the game as part of the launch, with developer Microids confirming this week:
“Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition includes dramatically improved gameplay mechanics and movement code, audio balance improvements, seven additional months of polish, improved Slig and tracker AI (more intelligent and responsive), as well as all previously released updates and brand new content.
“Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition’s new content is a separate challenge game mode that can be accessed from the main menu once you’ve completed the game.
“PlayStation and Epic Games Store players will experience Toby’s Escape. Like Vykkers, it’s a throwback to classic Oddworld games with short puzzle-filled levels to master. If you’ve played Soulstorm, you’ll know Toby from the train, but how Toby escaped RuptureFarms and became the train conductor… find out in Toby’s Escape.
“For the millions of gamers who already own Oddworld: Soulstorm on PS5, PS4 and Epic Games Store, you will receive the Enhanced Edition as a free update.”
PS Plus November news
So for anyone who has claimed the PS5 version of Oddworld SoulStorm via PS Plus, the Enhanced Edition should be unlocked before the end of the month at no extra cost.
The only downside is that Oddworld was never released for free for PS4, meaning this latest deal is locked for those who have SoulStorm on PlayStation 5.
New games will be announced by Sony for inclusion in PS Plus in December, with hundreds of PS4 games to choose from.
Sometimes they feature new titles, while sometimes they surprise everyone by adding a popular first-party exclusive from the past.
And for PS Plus December 2021, gamers think they might choose to add another new game to the mix.
We’ve already seen this happen for the past two months, with Hell Let Loose and First Class Trouble offered as free games in October and November,
So could it be possible that Heavenly Bodies is the next new game to make its debut via PlayStation Plus?
Fans consider this title a serious contender for inclusion based on its release date, which is set for December 7.
