The world of Genshin Impact is getting a little bigger this week with the release date of update 2.3.

Genshin 2.3, revealed at a recent livestream event packed with new codes, promises more new characters to unlock and a new winter camp in the heights of Dragonspine to explore.

As in the past, Mihoyo plans to introduce new characters such as Arataki Itto and Gorou into the game while also boosting the rank with former recruits.

These include Albedo and Eula, who both bolstered banners during Genshin Impact 2.3 on PS4, PS5, PC and mobile.

The first banner heralding the release date of Genshin Impact 2.3 will feature Albedo and Eula, but that won’t start until after the maintenance is completed by the Mihoyo team.

Here’s what we know about the final banner release date, maintenance, and launch for Genshin Impact 2.3:

WHEN DOES GENSHIN IMPACT 2.3 BANNER START?

Mihoyo has confirmed that the release date of Genshin Impact 2.3 has been set for Wednesday, November 24, 2021 in the UK.

And because of the time difference, gamers in North America will start playing on November 23 at 7pm PT.

Before the new update can be downloaded and installed, there will be a period of downtime for the game’s servers.

Mihoyo has confirmed that Genshin Impact maintenance will begin on November 23 at around 10pm GMT and will last for five hours.

This means that the game will not be playable on PS4, PS5, Mobile and PC platforms until maintenance is complete.

A post from Mihoyo adds: “To ensure that all Travelers have the best possible Genshin Impact experience, our developers will soon start performing update maintenance. After this is completed, the game will be updated to a new version.

“After Travelers installs the new game client, they can continue playing. Due to the large file size, it is recommended to install the update over a Wi-Fi connection.

“While update maintenance is underway, travelers will not be able to log into the game. Keep in mind the update time and plan your game time accordingly to avoid losing your progress. We hope Travelers will be patient with us during the disruption.”

Changes to this schedule can be announced before everything starts and if the downtime lasts longer than shared, Mihoyo will add more Primogems to accounts.

SNOW CAMP

Covered in snow all year round, Dragonspine is a huge frozen mountain range in the south of Mondstadt. In this season’s event, Shadows Amid Snowstorms, the Adventurer’s Guild has decided to hold a winter training camp in this area, and old friends like Albedo and Eula will also make an appearance in the story. It’s time to hone your skills, enjoy the snowy weather and earn tons of rewards, including the new 4-star Sword Cinnabar Spindle to improve your characters.

ARATAKIA

In battle, Arataki Itto also possesses powerful attacks, with a massive Claymore and the power of Geo. Both his normal attacks and elemental strength can be very convincing. Itto can gain stacks of superlative superpowers with his normal attacks and elemental ability. Each stack of Superlative Superstrength allows him to defeat a powerful Charged Attack, the Arataki Kesagiri, and once the last stack is consumed, a particularly powerful attack is unleashed. With his Elemental Burst, Royal Descent: Behold, Itto the Evil, Itto unleashes his inner Raging Oni King, using his Oni King’s Kanabou in battle. When Itto turns into the Raging Oni King, his Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks are converted to Geo Damage. In addition, Itto’s elemental and physical RES decreases, while his ATK increases based on his DEF, and his normal attack speed also increases.

GOROU

Gorou will participate as a new four-star character in the same wish event with Itto. The great general of Watasumi Island’s force is in fact younger than many of his subordinates, but he gained the trust of his comrades and the Traveler in Inazuma’s storyline. Gorou also wields a Geo Visio, but he prefers the bow and can bolster his teammates in combat. Both his Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst do AoE Geo Damage and improve characters on the field. Besides, the more Geo characters there are in your party, the more bonuses Gorou can offer.
