PlayStation Now December 2021: Two new PS4 games confirmed for final PlayStation lineup

Recent articles

Fans already know that at least three games will be added to PlayStation Now in December 2021, and the number is likely to grow.

Traditionally, Sony supplies three new games as standard, with as many as seven in some months.

Most of these titles come from the PS4 library, and no PS5 games have been included in the PlayStation Now library so far.

One game per month is an indie game, following Sony’s promise to support the genre earlier in 2020 with its PS Now subscription.

And so far we know that Sony plans to add two older games to PS Now in December 2021, but we don’t have any clear indications about what indie title might be in it.

As part of previous announcements, we learned that Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster would make its PlayStation Now debut on December 7 and is just one of several Final Fantasy games recently added to the library.

Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 8 Remastered, and Final Fantasy 9 are already available to play this month.

And more will be added after Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster goes live on PS Now.

The last game to be added from the FF library is Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age, with Sony confirming: “Enter an era of war in the world of Ivalice. The small kingdom of Dalmasca, conquered by the Archadic Empire, is left behind in rubble and uncertainty.

“Princess Ashe, the one and only heir to the throne, is committed to the Resistance to liberate her country. Vaan, a young man who lost his family in the war, dreams of flying free through the sky. Join these unlikely allies and their companions in a struggle for freedom and fallen royalty as they embark on a heroic adventure to liberate their homeland.”

The other game already announced for PS Now is GTA 3: Definitive Edition, which is part of the much-criticized bundle launched by Rockstar Games earlier this month.

As the oldest of the three classic GTA games in the bundle, the GTA III has received the fewest critical reviews.

Rockstar Games has already pledged to improve the overall quality of every game in the Definitive Edition, telling fans this month:

“We would like to offer our sincere apologies to anyone who has encountered difficulties playing these games.

“The Grand Theft Auto series – and the games that make up this iconic trilogy – are as special to us as we know they are to fans around the world. The updated versions of these classic games didn’t launch in a state that met our own quality standards, or the standards our fans have come to expect.

“We have ongoing plans to address the technical issues and improve each game in the future. With each planned update, the games will reach the level of quality they deserve.

“In the coming days, there will be a new title update for all versions of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition that addresses a number of issues. We’ll update everyone once it’s live.

“In the meantime, we are hurting to report that we are hearing reports from members of the development teams being harassed on social media. We would kindly ask our community to maintain a respectful and civilized discourse around this release as we resolve these issues.”

The remaining PS Now games for December have not yet been announced, but are expected to be announced on Monday, December 6, 2021.

This is based on previous announcements, so there’s a chance Sony will change its usual formula and announce things early.
