FFXIV Endwalker will be the latest and greatest expansion released for one of the most popular and enduring Final Fantasy products ever released.

Final Fantasy 14 has grown in popularity in recent years and has even managed to surpass Twitch over more established MMO names.

And this week will see early access for FFXIV Endwalker, the next expansion, which will add new locations and a host of exciting new features.

Some of the most notable new content revolves around the story and jobs added with Endwalker, featuring Square Enix earlier this year:

“Endwalker brings the story of Hydaelyn and Zodiark to an end, eons in the making. Discover truths long hidden as you embark on an epic quest to save the world from impending doom.”

Meanwhile, the addition of the brand new jobs sage and reaper comes with updates to the battle system, including new actions for existing jobs and an increased level cap.

The new role of Sage Healers is expected to be very popular, with the new job coming from the land of Sharlayan.

Also known as somanoutica, this art “attempts to heal and protect by manipulating bodily ether through the use of nouliths, a flying array of foci.”

“Practitioners are dedicated to the betterment of humanity, and because of their wisdom and compassion, they eventually became known simply as sages.”

Square Enix has confirmed that the downtime and maintenance of the FFXIV Endwalker server will begin at 9:00 AM GMT on Thursday, December 2nd.

This to make way for the launch of the Early Access version of the new expansion which will be available on PC and PlayStation.

The big downside is that the game will be offline for several hours and Square Enix has revealed that the Final Fantasy 14 servers will be offline for 24 hours.

The good news is that when everything is ready, FFXIV Endwalker early access will begin on Friday, December 3rd at 9am GMT.

A message from Square Enix adds: “Home World Transfer Service will be suspended 30 minutes before maintenance. Taking into account the expected high server load immediately after the start of early access and the release of Patch 6.0, the start of the Home World Transfer is Service scheduled for December 4, 2021 12:00 PM (PST).

“Certain features in the FINAL FANTASY XIV Companion App will not be available until maintenance has ended. Any registration data from the conscription registration prior to this maintenance cannot be played after this maintenance.

“After a dramatic increase in player base in all regions since this summer, we are currently experiencing record numbers of active users and therefore expect some signups yet to be seen since the launch of FFXIV.

“In preparation for these predictions, we optimized our servers to increase login limits prior to the launch of the expansion.

“On the other hand, due to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage that we mentioned earlier, we were unable to add new worlds prior to the release of Endwalker. The addition of new worlds will still be considered when purchasing the necessary server machines.”
